Naples, Italy – Being the third largest city after Milan and Rome, the Napolitans and their southern soul sets it apart from it’s bigger brothers. The atmosphere being very different with dramatic and historical architecture and narrowed streets filled with people teeming in every corner. Getting lost here – in the myriad of buzzling streets and people is the perfect way to discover what the city of Naples has to offer.

Walking down Via Mezzocannone from the old town, along the university of Naples, you will stumble upon Retrophilia. A vintage store with a carefully selected collection of unique pieces and behind all of this is a very friendly and interesting character, Signor Luigi Cirella.

Having a big passion for design, Luigi started the business 2 years ago. The unique vintage collection that covers both women’s and mens is collected through his many travels around the world, with California, Sweden, Japan and Reykjavik among his favourite destinations. In his space you will find more than just the “must have vintage pieces”. Being a design enthusiast himself, Luigi also creates his own designs which you will find displayed and sold in the store. The unique pieces consists of colourful lamps made of glass, earrings shaped as small art pieces, and prints inspired by the works displayed in the Chichu Art museum in Naoshima Japan.

His passion for design is something that is also showed in the shop. The store is well balanced with a beautiful curation of objects and furniture. The things found in the store, as he explains, come from his many travels around the world. Among the things is a lamp from Maison Margiela, a sign with the title ”hem” (means home in swedish) from Sweden, and the recently added two Ikebanas (tranditional japansese flower arrangements) from Japan.

Overall a place that feels like a bright and cozy closet, where a never ending selection of beautiful and elegant creations await.
