Milan, Italy – In a quiet residential area you’ll find Casa Capitano, a cozy place with the perfect upbeat music and energy. Located not too far from the more hectic streets of Porta Venezia and Corso Buenos Aires, this is the perfect stop in between your usual Milan tourist rounds.
When you enter this tropically designed spot , expect to enjoy a perfectly made italian coffee along with Valrhona chocolate truffles and sweets, which you can only find here. Amidst the shades of a city jungle in this small space, Casa Capitano works as a café and interior design store, where owner Luca’s dream was to create a haven that acted as a “third place” for those who live around the area.
“This is where you enjoy your coffee and a good piece of Valhrona chocolate, in the shade of a small city jungle”
Casa Capitano opened it’s doors on the 18 th of March in 2017 and has become a favourite among the locals. If you go here during lunch hour, you’ll find the place crammed with students and working locals having a quick coffee by the bar.
The impressive interior furniture and object collection, consisting of 50’s and 60’s vintage furniture, is also somthing worth visiting. Best of all – you can purchase them! All items / furnitures used in the café are in fact on sale so if you fall in love with the chair you’re sitting on or the table you dine at, simply check the price tag and inform the people working at the bar.
The pieces were all restored in a neighborhood shop just a 5 min walk away (also an interesting visit, but we’ll save this for next time).
Casa Capitano is also the only place in Milan where you’ll find exclusive chocolate creations from Valrona.
A big source of inspiration for the place was Toiletpaper magazine, the collaborative project created by Maurizio Cattelan and Pierpaolo Ferrari. Luca even had the idea to initially name the space Toiletpaper, but eventually became “Casa Capitano” instead, meaning “the captains house”.
During spring and summer Casa Capitano also opens up it’s courtyard, where you can enjoy working, drinking and chatting with friends. In the future you might also come here to enjoy live music which is something that is currently in the works.
